The consortium is made up of two partners, Enair Energy SL (Enair) and Lancor 2000 S Coop (Lancor). In their common approach to innovate in the small wind energy market, both companies have been partners since 2013. In ECIWIND Enair and Lancor are collaborating for the introduction in the market of a novel small wind turbine (SWT) for off-grid and on-grid applications, with the main objective of introducing in the market a low cost SWT (see sections 1-3 for further detail) of 40 kW of rated capacity. Enair has the expertise in the Small wind technology and currently has a own developed SWT portfolio. In turn, Lancor bring to the consortium its deep knowledge of the generators market and technology, providing knowledge and infrastructure to develop a challenging generator to meet the objectives of the EC Wind Technology.
ECIWIND is a well-established partnership between the two companies that are searching for more cost effective technologies in the small wind sector, with the objective of pushing and increasing the small wind technology in the renewable energy market.
Enair is a company established in 2010, specialised in renewable energies, mainly in the field of Small Wind Energy generation, offering an integral service including marketing, research, project design and maintenance of Small Wind Turbines (SWT). Enair is currently commercializing its own product portfolio of small wind turbines of 1,5 kW, 3,5 kW and 7,5 kW of rated capacity.
The basis of its business is the 30 years of experience in the small wind manufacturing of David Bornay, technical director of Enair and 50% shareholder (more than 4,000 SWTs installed), which have positioned their product portfolio in the international Small wind Market powering the infrastructures of companies such as Vodafone, Teléfonica, Adif and Acciona.
The headquarters of Enair is located in Castalla (Alicante, Spain), from where are managed all the operations related to the life of the product until its sale.
Due to the fast growth of Enair, the company is specially betting for a business model based on the outsourcing of the manufacturing of each part of the SWT by specialized external contractors and partners. Enair receives each piece and subsequently, performs the integration of the pieces to set up the SWT on its assembly chain .This business model have positioned Enair in the small wind market with a high quality product at competitive prices, pushing a rapid penetration of their product portfolio in the international market and hence, increasing year by year the turnover from its beginning with an average Compound Annual.
Lancor was born in 1943, and from its beginning has directed its activity to develop and manufacture high quality electrical machines, and subsequently specializing in the electric motors to elevators. As a leading and pioneer company, LANCOR has been a member of the evolution that has experimented this industry segment since the generalisation of the use of elevators in the last 60 years.
As of year 2000, LANCOR moved from the old Factory of Zorrozaurre, to new and modern infrastructures located in the industrial area of “El Campillo” ( Gallarta, Vasque Country, Spain), and in 2013 have changed its organizational structure through its establishment under the legal form of cooperative, becoming Lancor 2000 S Coop, since then Lancor is 100 % owned by its employees (98 employees and 157 shareholders).
Lancor currently develops and manufactures diverse type of motors for elevators, generators and transformers. However, since 2012 Lancor is planning and implementing a strategy to diversify to other sectors of activity, as it is the case of wind energy generation at small scale. Given its knowledge, infrastructure and resources, Lancor can develop and manufacture electric motors and generators for a wider range of applications.
Since 2008 Lancor has invested more than 5 million € in Research, Development (R+D) and equipment, positioning technologically the company at the forefront of the industry. This effort in R+D is accompanied by the collaboration with many institutions as universities and technology institutes such as “Universidad de Mondragón”, CET, IK4 Research Alliance and Tecnalia to diversify the applications of their product and hence, increasing the business opportunities.
On the other side, the company principles are sustained by quality and environment principles. Lancor holds the quality and environment certificates ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. In addition, Lancor belongs to Ner Group, an organization that promotes Just and Sustainable Human Development, and the following qualitative and quantitative aspects are meant to be a reflection of that.
